The first step in Technical Scuba Diving
training! If you're interested in
technical diving, but haven't yet met
the prerequisites for the
DSAT Tec Deep Diver course, you can
consider enrolling in the DSAT
Apprentice Tec Diver course. It is also
a subcourse of the
full DSAT Tec Deep Diver course.
This course is designed to give the
nitrox-certified
Advanced
Open Water Diver with
Deep
Diver certification an opportunity to
improve their skills, knowledge and
equipment configuration to increase
their dive safety and efficiency. For
those interested in technical diving,
this course is also the
first step in
the technical training progression at
Huron Scuba.
For the diver looking to understand
technical diver equipment and procedures
without the greater depth, we have
Apprentice Tec Diver. This course is
identical to
PADI/DSAT Tec Deep except
that the diver stops after Open Water
Dive No. 7 (max. 110’), knowledge
development section four, and takes only
Exam A. This course runs simultaneous
with Tec Deep Diver and everything else
from Tec Deep applies.
The PADI/DSAT Apprentice Tec Diver
Course includes:
- Approximately 10 hours of
presentations, dive planning and
work on equipment assembly and
configuration, both in the classroom
and at dive sites.
- Three confined water dives over
the course of a full day.
- Four open water training dives
that will include both quarry dives
and shipwreck dives.
- You will learn to make gas
switches and conduct extended
no-decompression dives using air and
enriched air to 40 meters/130 feet.
You'll also prepare for and respond
to foreseeable technical diving
emergencies.
Specific equipment requirements
apply:
- All dives will be made utilizing
doubles with an isolation manifold
and, on later dives, decompression
cylinder(s) for required deco stops
including a 20ft. stop and shallower
on 100% oxygen.
- Participants must utilize a
standardized Technical Equipment
Configuration as outlined in the
DSAT Tec Deep manual.
- Participants
must consult the Huron Scuba technical instructor
prior to making any equipment purchases
to make sure you get the right equipment
the first time.
- Dry suits are highly
recommended - rentals are available for
those with appropriate training.
- This course utilizes enriched
air and oxygen. Gas (est. $50) and
charter boat costs are separate.
