This course is designed to give the
Open Water Diver
Deep Diver certification
an opportunity to
improve their skills, knowledge and
equipment configuration to increase
their dive safety and efficiency. For
those interested in technical diving,
this course is also the first step in
the technical training progression at
Huron Scuba and with PADI
This is for the diver looking to
understand technical diving equipment,
decompression theory and procedures for
extending your bottom times within the
recreational depth limit (130 feet).
The PADI TEC40
- Two classroom sessions, dive planning and
review of equipment and
configuration, both in the classroom
and at dive sites.
- A single evening of confined water
- Three open water training dives.
- You will learn to make gas
switches and conduct extended
dives using air and
enriched air to 40 meters/130 feet.
You'll also prepare for and respond
to foreseeable technical diving
Specific equipment requirements
- All dives will be made utilizing
doubles with an isolation manifold
(or other redundant setups, per
review of TEC Instructor) and, on
later dives, decompression
cylinder(s) for required deco stops.
- Participants must utilize a
standardized Technical Equipment
Configuration as outlined in the
DSAT Tec Deep manual.

- Dry suits are highly
recommended - rentals are available for
those with appropriate training.
- This course utilizes enriched
air and oxygen. Gas (est. $50).
