Wreck Diver Specialty
Description
Learn how to handle the potential hazards of diving around shipwrecks, as well as how to understand what you're seeing underwater. This course is offered in conjunction with our wreck diving trips, such as Tobermory, Alpena, and Lake Huron charters.

This course provides the diver with the skills and knowledge needed to gain experience and minimize risks in wreck diving. Wreck diving (external survey) is defined as diving around a sunken vessel, aircraft or debris field.

Topics covered include safety, hazards and cautions, special risks of overhead environments, entanglement, limited visibility, deep diving, equipment (additions and modifications), location of wrecks, sources of information, search methods, underwater navigation, legal aspects, artifacts, treasure, salvage, archaeology and appropriate material from other specialty courses.

Prerequisites Advanced Open Water certification
Minimum age 18 years.
Class size Limit 8 students.
Classroom location Huron Scuba.
Pool location None.
Open water location Varies, see schedule.
Equipment provided by student Personal snorkeling equipment (must own) and complete scuba diving equipment (may rent or own). Each diver must own required specialty equipment: Underwater slate & pencil. Line reel or spool. Cutting tool. Primary and backup dive lights.
Equipment provided by Huron Scuba First aid and emergency oxygen kits. Underwater measuring tools.
Course cost $199 per student.  Prereq: Advanced
