Eastern Michigan University's Club
Pool in the Warner building:
Coming from Ann Arbor East
towards EMU - via Washtenaw Avenue
or along US 23 North or South - US
23 Exit #37A: In Ann Arbor,
Stadium Blvd. and Huron St. merge on
the east side to become Washtenaw
Ave. Continue east on Washtenaw Ave.
underneath US 23 (or Exit 37A forces
you east onto Washtenaw) and start
counting at Carpenter Rd (first
major intersection east of US 23 on
Washtenaw Ave.), 7 traffic lights
and 2.7 miles later, turn left onto
Oakwood heading north. At the second
stop sign you may turn right, go
2/10th of a mile and park in the
surface lot ("Bowen Lot") after the
large parking structure on the
right. Go up the stairs on the hill
to the southeast, turn left and walk
300 ft. until you see a large
mirrored-glass wall to your left.
That is the Club/Warner Pool and
your instructors will meet you on
the east wall (big red brick w/one
metal gray door), just around the
corner to the right of that tall
glass/mirrored wall. That door will
be your meeting point and most
likely entrance.
Directions if you want to continue
on to Snow Parking
Lot: Instead of turning
right from Oakwood at the large
parking structure, continue along
Oakwood to its end (7/10th of a mile
total length), then turn right
heading east towards the McDonald's
restaurant on your left. Go past the
baseball diamonds on your right and
traffic light, after the Wooden
Nickel bar turning right onto Ann
Street (BP gas station will be on
your left once you have turned). Go
approx. 400ft. (heading south) to an
unmanned security booth, turn right
(heading west) and drive between two
dorms (Walton on your left and Wise
on your right). After the second
stop sign, bend left (now heading
south) and 150 ft. later you will
turn right into Snow Lot for
parking. If there is no parking,
leave Snow Lot turning right, turn
left at the next stop sign (now
heading west), go approx. 300 ft. to
another parking lot on the right
side (Alexander on Right; Ford of
Left). Faculty parking lots are
legal for anyone on EMU campus
Saturday and Sunday; Parking meters
and permit requirements
are enforced except for Saturdays
and Sundays.
From Snow Lot, walk to the end
across from the entry (southwest
corner), walk 50ft. and turn left up
the stairs. Keep walking past the
main entrance to REC/IM about
another 100ft. and you will see a
huge brick wall with one gray metal
door towards the end. That is the
easterly wall of the Club/Warner
Pool. That door will be your meeting
point and most likely entrance.
Coming from Ann Arbor East
towards EMU - Interstate 94:
Exit #181 Michigan Ave. and turn
left at the end of the off-ramp. Go
across overpass for I-94 and turn
left at the first traffic light (2
lanes turn left; watch out for cars
turning left into the gas station)
onto Hewitt heading north. Go 4
traffic lights to Washtenaw Ave.,
turn right at the Sunoco station, go
9/10th of a mile to Oakwood, turn
left. Now join directions above for
Washtenaw Ave. and US23.
Coming from the east on
I-94. Exit Michigan Ave and
turn right at the end of the exit
ramp. Go about 400 ft. to the
traffic light and turn left (2 lanes
turn left; watch out for cars
turning left into the gas station)
onto Hewitt heading north. Go 4 traffic lights
to Washtenaw Ave., turn right at the
Sunoco station, go 9/10th of a mile
to Oakwood, turn left. Now join
directions above for Washtenaw Ave.
and US23.
Directional Computer
Systems: Enter EMU Student
Center, 900 Oakwood Drive,
Ypsilanti, MI 48197 into your nav-system
for EMU campus, then look at the
map, find a parking space, and meet
your instructors at Club/Warner
Pool. The student center building is
immediately north of the large
parking structure (see direction
from Ann Arbor - Washtenaw Ave.) on
Oakwood Ave. Oakwood is the street
that creates the westerly border of
EMU's main campus.
