Advanced Open Water

Apply your scuba skills as you explore new dive sites and activities with your Instructor. Gain more confidence & capability in the important skills of buoyancy control, navigation, dive planning, & accident prevention!

This course is designed for newly certified divers as well as novice or moderately experienced divers who want to take the next step in their dive education. The course consists of on-site extensive briefings, 6 supervised dives, & debriefings. Required dives: navigation and deep, plus 4 electives.  PADI standards require 5 dives, Huron Scuba always offers 6 (weather permitting).

The PADI Advanced Scuba Diver course includes the first dive towards up to 5 different specialty certifications, so after you complete the PADI Advanced Scuba Diver certification, you may already have one dive credited towards specialties such as Dry Suit DiverSearch & Recovery DiverUnderwater NavigatorWreck Diver, and Deep Diver! Huron Scuba’s PADI Specialty Diver Weekends will include a variety of these dives as well as exciting specialties such Digital Underwater Photographer, Night Diver, and more. Stop by the shop to visit us and see the specifics on each weekend.

Equipment provided by student:
  • Personal snorkeling equipment (must own)
    • Full-ankle Dive Boots 5mm or thicker required.  Thinner than 5mm or “sock” or “shoe” style footwear will NOT work.
  • Complete scuba diving equipment (may rent)
  • 5mm or thicker Gloves (must own)
  • Primary, backup, and marker lights (if night diving)
  • Dive slate, Cutting tool
Equipment provided by Huron Scuba:

Emergency first aid and oxygen kits.

Course cost:

$499 per student

Deposit:

$200 deposit secures your spot in the program and you can start your homework right away.

Required books & materials:

PADI Advanced Open eCode (included)

Additional expenses:

Rental equipment, air fills, charter fees (if applicable), park / quarry admission and parking fees.

Optional upgrades:

Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty can be completed on the same weekend.

Drysuit Specialty can possibly be completed on the same weekend
