PADI Open Water Certification Dives

Once you’ve completed the classroom & pool training, and you feel comfortable with your skills, you’ll be ready to move onto this last step – Certification Dives (sometimes called “checkout” dives).

Apply the skills you have learned in a local quarry or ocean under the supervision of a PADI Instructor to earn your eCertification card.

Minimum of 4 dives required, across a minimum of 2 days (Sat./Sun.)

After successful completion of your dives 1-4, we always offer a 5th “fun dive” on Sunday to keep having fun as a fully-certified PADI Open Water Diver, with the comfort of a Huron Scuba dive professional along for the dive to help you build some confidence right away.

Certify with Huron Scuba locally or on one of our group trips, or we’ll gladly refer you to an Instructor at your next vacation destination! Private certification dives also available.

Prerequisites:

Completion of Open Water Class and Pool training.

12 years old (10-11 by special arrangement)

Huron Scuba

Open water location:

Gilboa Quarry near Findlay, OH.

Equipment provided by student:

Personal snorkeling equipment (must own), 5mm gloves (must own), complete scuba diving equipment (may rent or own), digital log book and dive computer (use of a dive computer is included in full Huron Scuba Exec class fees.)

Equipment provided by Huron Scuba:

Emergency first aid and oxygen kits. Scuba equipment rental (cylinder, weights & belt, regulator with gauges, compass and Dive Computer, BCD, wetsuit, hood, bag) included in Open Water Diver Package.

Course cost:

$399 per student, (if you signed up for our $1199 package, these dives are included along with classroom and pool training.)

Private Open Water Certification dives can also be scheduled, for an additional fee of $450, for up to 4 people (not per person). Call for more details.

Deposit:

Non-refundable payment in full is required to hold your spot (no additional payment required required for $1199 students, already included)

Additional expenses:

Quarry park admission fees are not included, and are $38/day as of 2024 ($76/weekend). Air fills at dive site (2 are required, 3 if you do extra fun dive $12 per fill).

Optional upgrades:

Purchase your own scuba equipment package & use it during your lessons: save up to $100 (ask for details)
