Dive Trip Checklist
Here’s a useful trip checklist for divers traveling to a tropical destination. Our Dive Team members use it to guide their packing when traveling with us.
Required Equipment
- Exposure suit
- Dive mask
- Snorkel
- Fins
- Dive boots or fin socks
- Dive gloves
- Buoyancy control device
- Weight system, if not integrated into BCD (weights will be provided)
- SCUBA regulator with primary and alternate air source
- Depth gauge
- Submersible pressure gauge
- Compass
- Watch or timer or computer
- Dive computer and/or dive tables
- Whistle or other surface noisemaker
- Mesh gear bag to keep equipment neat & compact on the dive boat
- Up-to-date logbook
- Certification card
- Nitrox certification card, if applicable
- DAN Insurance information & member number
- Passport and photo identification
- Emergency contact numbers & medical alert information
- If night diving: primary and backup underwater lights, plus marker light or cyalume stick, plus extra batteries and/or battery charger
- Passport, if traveling internationally
Strongly Recommended Equipment
- Dive knife or cutting device
- Mask defog
- Underwater slate & pencil
- Surface signaling devices (sea sausage, mirror, strobe, Dive Alert)
- Rash guard
- Sunscreen
- Hat
- Sunglasses with retainer cord
- Seasickness medication
- Wind and waterproof jacket
- Power outlet adapter, if traveling internationally
- Swimsuit
- Towel
- Save-a-dive kit (diver’s tool, spare parts, o-rings, mask & fin straps, snorkel keeper, silicone grease, etc.)
- Clips for attaching all your gear to your BC
- Marine life identification books & cards
- Dry bag or box to bring on the boat to keep your towel & wallet dry
Other Stuff
- Personal items (towel, swimsuit, medications, money…)
- Comfortable, casual clothes
- Underwater camera
- Extra film & batteries
- Nothing to upset Customs officials
